All the pages on this site will be controlled visually by a single css page. The individual pages will have html tags, navigation and text content. The pages themselves will not have visual style on them. The style is controlled by the external css style sheet. As you work on this project, you should pay attention to getting your own work done, but you should also be willing to collaborate with your classmates. Much effort has been put into this project description to make it clear but not too restrictive. Pleas ask your teacher any questions you have about parts of it that you are not sure about.
Index.html (site home page)
about.html gives some info about the group/collaboration/project
members.html Brief introduction of the people in the project.
downloads.html A place where users of the site can download files relating to the project.
contact.html Allows users of the site to get in touch with the members of the group. Make up an address/website email.
links.html Park the addresses to web pages that have useful information for completing this project
The whole site should appear consistent in looks and placement of elements. Make sure that your navigation system looks exactly the same on every page. Your text should be easy to read, so be conscious of mixing colors or amount of contrast.
Each page should have a Title in the title bar, reference to the css stylesheet in the HEAD, a navigation section with links to all the other pages on the site. You should use H tags for section heads and P tags around the paragraphs.
Name the page groupstyle.css Use comments to add your name (first name lastinitial), labels for for navigation section, common styles to all pages, sytles that show up mostly on one page, header and footer. Separate your brackets and tab your code so that it is easy to read.
You can either make up content, get some dummy content from wikipedia.com, or get some from someplace else.
If you have borrowed any content for this assignment, you must credit it with the address the information came from. This applies to text and photographs.
When you find information that helps you solve this project, create a link on your links.html page. Display the address in the link and label the link with a description of what is on the page. These links should be directly relating to HTML CSS and Web Site Design. You should add at least 3 links for each class period that you work on this project.
During class, you should work off the hard drive, save all the files into a directory called Groupsite or something similar. You should back your work up to the classroom ftp server. You can also store the files on your wiki, where you can link to them. If they are saved with the css page, they will reference it and should appear correctly. If you want to change the code on a page, you have to delete it from the wiki, then upload a new version.
Use the UL Class for the navbar.
Use the A TARGET=_BLANK HREF="address of page" tag for all external links and for download links also. This will make external links open in their own window.
Make a UL class for downloads and videos. The linkbar on pages that make up the downloads, photos, videos etc. sections should appear below the regular navbar. They should look like the main navbar, but a little different, so the user can tell they are in a different section of the site.
